People who know me before my marriage will be thinking this blog as some kind of software updates I learned recently. Of course they do , as I was a "Software Engineer".
Before we moved back to India I was so naive about all the beauty products available in the market. I used to always think, they are only meant for working women and not meant for homemakers. Especially for a girl like me, who was born in a small town that had no trace of store bought chemical beauty products. We used turmeric for the face and Shikakai for the hair.
Immediately after marriage we moved to abroad. They barely notice you, which made me feel more comfortable walking on the streets. People who wore cosmetics will be working. So, I used to tell myself that's not for me. Before 2 years getting a haircut and wearing a lipstick was a luxury for me.
After 6 years , I came back to India, surprised to see even my home town (you can tour that place within half a day) had over crowded beauty salons. The prices are not sweet either.The salons had appointments, back then there was only one salon, it will be like a walk-in and you'll be the only person in the salon. People will come only for haircuts for kids and eyebrows for adults.
I remember before marriage I was sent to a salon where I had facial and bleach just for Rs.350.
After 6 years, the first time I wanted to get a facial in India, I visited the salon they gave a menu, I was like ,"What?" I cannot believe the list of facials available these days with the min Rs.500.
I do not want to spend much for a facial, after all now I am married and got 2 kids. So I opted for the minimum one. That girl gave me a cheap look and said , "Ma'am, it;s just a cleanup!" I asked her, "What do u mean?" , "We just wash your face and apply pack". My mind was like, "Seriously!!!". I could have done that at home. With a sigh, anyway I have an event to attend. So, went with the girl's choice of little bit more facial.
Trust me, I could not believe myself, I was glowing. I barely recognised myself. The bill amount made me faint of course, with guilt I came down the salon saw the look on my husband's face. It was worth it ;)
My whole family looked me like I was flipped :D.
We moved into a very good community where homemakers are well groomed even in a very busy morning. You can barely say they have Big kids. Should look at the maids, the only thing that differentiated the owner and the maid were the Sun Glasses.
India is not the same that I saw few years back. Everyone saw me like I have come from a stone-age! I was shocked to see even the cost of a Compaq.
At that time, one of my friend in my building who is a beauty consultant in a best cosmetic company invited me for her cosmetic exhibit. Where I was surprised to see all the products , when I went through the catalogue I understood only few, that's Compaq, lipstick and deodorant.
With hesitation I ordered a deo and a lipstick. She immediately asked me would you like to join us it's just Rs.99 for your lifetime, "You can get your money back from the things you have ordered". I calculated the amount and the discount benefits of joining . I immediately signed in for it.
That's the start.
I am feeling so blessed now for that moment, because I made a right decision that time signing in.
Now, I feel really proud to say that I am a beauty consultant and a distributor for 2 big companies. I don't make a huge sum of money still I am earning lot of friends. When I stepped into my apartment before 2 years I barely knew anyone, talking to one person will be happy for me. Now, I feel great in the morning walk, people know me by my name. They come to me for suggestions and gifts.
This blog is mainly for my friends who made me explore the cosmetic world by asking me, "Why?, how? and when?" on the products before buying them, the people who were like me and for the people who would like to know more about the beauty products they are using.
